The Tupolev Tu-160 "White Swan" ( Russian : Туполев Ту-160 "Белый лебедь" or "Белый лéбедь" ( transliterated as Belyi Liebed or Belyj Lebed' , NATO reporting name : Blackjack 2 ) is a supersonic heavy geometry bomber. variable developed by Tupolev in the Soviet Union . It was the last Soviet strategic bomber design , being the heaviest bomber aircraft and the largest supersonic aircraft built in the world. It entered service in 1987 and continues to be active in theRussian Air Force with a total of 16 units. He holds several world records, such as having flown 1,000 kilometers with 30 tons of payload at an average speed of 1,720 km/h, and 2,000 kilometers with 275 tons of weight at an average speed of 1,700 km/h at an altitude of 15,250 meters. The Russians call it "White Swan" for its color and smoothness of lines. It has the potential to be used until the year 2040.
